Activities
- International Programmes on the Management of Sustainability (IPMS)
The International Programme on the Management of Sustainability (IPMS)
is organised each year in June in the Netherlands. It brings together 30
to 40 senior officials from the public, private and non-profit sectors.
Professor William Moomaw of Tufts University directs the faculty. The
objective of the IPMS is to train participants in the techniques of
multilateral dialogue to resolve the conflicts that arise in the context
of implementing sustainable development.
Contact addresses are listed on the page Contact us.
Further information can be found at the IPMS pages
- Regional Programmes on the Management of Sustainability
In close collaboration with the participants, the Foundation organises Regional Training Programmes
around the world. These are tailored to meet the specific needs of local groups, with examples and
problem solving exercises relevant to each area. The Regional Programmes offer particular scope for
participants to work closely with the Foundation on a region's sustainability agenda.
In the autumn of 1998 a Regional Programme was organised by the
Department of Water Affairs and Forestry (DWAF) in South Africa. Since
December 2004 SCF has organised Regional Programmes in Kenya,
Mozambique, Moldova, South Africa and West Africa. Another Programme is
planned to take place in 2007 in South East Asia. Steven de Bie of
Wageningen University & Shell coordinates SCF Regional Programmes.
Further information can be found at the Regional Programmes pages
- SCF Network
The Sustainability Challenge Foundation stays in touch with participants and facilitates contacts among
them in a number of ways.
First of all, former participants are contacted each year to nominate candidates for the IPMS.
Secondly, some participants return to the Programme as Associate Faculty members and are trained
to become a local resource person for Regional Programmes in their country/region.
Thirdly, SCF publishes an annual Participant Directory with updated information about each participant.
This Participant Directory can be found on the SCF website under "Participants".
Finally, the Foundation's homepage serves as a point of reference and source of information world-wide.
A separate page, SustaiNews, is dedicated entirely for messages from former participants.
